Oh, for a little more tread!
I slide with such deciduous dread --
The grooves have grown wan,
And the grip is long gone,
And the hooves are as slick as a sled.
Smooth shod on the side of a hill--
A slippery slope, if you will:
There's lawn to be shorn,
But, my sole is done worn,
And, the dew will deal a great spill.
